Amino Acid Therapy
We design a protocol of amino-acid and related formulas to bring about
natural feelings of well-being and calmness.
Who is the product for?
Amino Acid Therapy has a history of reducing and in some cases, eliminating
the anxiety and cravings of substance abuse. Our patients initially exhibit
a sense of incompleteness, unease or anxiety which leads to seeking a substance
or behavior for relief. These behaviors are characteristics of an imbalance
in brain chemistry, known as the Reward Deficiency Syndrome.
The cause of these chemical imbalances can be:
- A result of organic and genetic problems such as depression, anxiety,
obsessive compulsive disorder and ADHD.
- A result of drug use or alcohol abuse.
Or both.
Whatever the cause, these conditions deplete the brain of the chemicals
necessary to make neural messengers called “neurotransmitters”. These messengers
communicate a feeling of calmness and well-being to the brain. Helping
the brain to create and regulate neurotransmitters normally is what reduces
the anxiety and cravings associated with recovery.
By addressing the physical form of the disease first with amino acid replacement
therapy, an individual is better prepared to make the behavioral, social
and psychological changes necessary in the next phases of recovery.
What is the product?
Amino Acid Therapy is the administration of natural amino acids, vitamins
and minerals (in specific proportions) to restore the chemical imbalances
in the brain. These are oral supplements, normally found in foods (but
at much lower doses).
Amino acids are the building blocks for neurotransmitters and receptor
systems. Our Amino Acid Therapy combines these powerful building blocks
with vitamins and minerals to literally bathe cells — giving them continuous
exposure to an optimized nutrient environment and speed up the healing
process.
Amino Acid Therapy detoxifies as it restores the brain’s receptors and
balances the brain’s chemistry. Because the body is getting what it needs
naturally, Amino Acid Therapy safely detoxifies while minimizing post acute
withdrawal symptoms, significantly reducing cravings, anxiety and depression,
normalizing stress levels, and restoring a sense of well-being and clarity
of mind. It reverses the Brain Reward Deficiency Syndrome.
We use a range of amino acids – these can include DL-Phenylalanine, L-Glutamine
and L-Tyrosine. These are tailored to the specific needs of our clients
and should not be taken without supervision.
What does the product do for its target user?
When the body is exposed to long-term stress like alcohol, drugs, hyperactivity,
sugar, nicotine, sleep deprivation and even loud, abusive noise, the body
goes on strike. Simply stated, the brain’s chemistry becomes severely altered.
Neurotransmitters are reduced or depleted completely. Hormones then become
reduced or depleted.
Severe biological stress results from imbalanced brain chemistry. Biological
stress has a negative effect on your emotions, your behaviors—indeed—your
sense of well-being. Amino Acid Therapy treats chronic stress and pain
and the co-occurring conditions of addiction, which include depression/anxiety,
Bipolar disorder, ADD / ADHD, and Insomnia. .
If the person simply stops using drugs, he or she is left with cravings
and very difficult withdrawal symptoms due to the sudden lack of artificial
stimulation, on which the nervous system has now become dependent. .
Amino Acid Therapy helps to reverse and improve these imbalances in brain
chemistry. Amino Acid Therapy reduces post-abstinence withdrawal symptoms
including cocaine dreams; reduces cravings; reduces stress responses. They
also increase energy and decrease depression.
Advantages of Amino Acid Therapy
Most addiction programs focus almost entirely on the psychological aspects
of addiction (talk therapy), and have nothing to offer to fix the brain
changes that are producing the continued cravings. For this reason, traditional
addiction treatment has low success rates. Amino Acid therapy is valuable
because it:
- Reduces and in some cases completely removes these physical cravings
and accompanying withdrawal symptoms. Instead of being plagued by anxiety,
insomnia, depression, nervousness, hypersensitivity, chronic fatigue
or pain, people taking amino acid supplements more quickly experience
a sense of calmness and clarity. They can concentrate and fully participate
in their recovery program.
- Reduces risk of relapse. Relapse rates are miserably high because so
many in recovery do not get treatment for the biological damage caused
by addiction. Without this cornerstone, they are unable to participate
fully in the psychotherapeutic process offered by rehab programs and
recovery programs and long-term sobriety remains elusive.
- Enhances the immune system
- Enhances liver function
- Will not interfere with pharmaceutical protocols required by treatment programs
Recognition of Effectiveness
Prominent authors and scientists in the fields of addiction, pain and ADD/ADHD, and post traumatic stress syndrome like Terence Gorski, David and Marlene Miller, Kenneth Blum, and Julia Ross clearly show that this therapy is invaluable for a healthy, stable recovery process. For example, one expert, Eric R. Braverman, M.D. is quoted as saying,
“The two dozen amino acids present in the human body
are now being shown to be among the most potent healing substances ever discovered.
These constituents of protein are necessary to everyday life processes, but
research and clinical work in the last two decades have revealed a vast range
of therapeutic functions for amino acids, including phenyhlalanine's pain-relieving
powers and tyrosine's energizing ability and addiction-fighting potential.” (source: a review of The Healing Nutrients Within by Eric R. Braverman, M.D.) |
